About the work
'I work between Poland and the UK. My cross - cultural experiences inform my studio-based research, which takes the form of painting, weaving, installation and storytelling.
My work is a collage of relics of past orders, different languages, verbal stories, cultural and historical references. I am particularly interested in motifs deriving from Eastern European culture that are personal to me.
The process of destruction starts in the moment of making. Therefore, there is an element of contradiction in the act of production itself. I make work, which fixes the state of its own non-permanence. The fractured language and imaginary lead a spectator through fragile landscape of disappearing matter and fungal structures, through facts to fantasy, and fantasy to facts.
My work is slow and labor intense. My making methodology often relates to conceptual motivations of stitching, weaving, digging and covering archeology. '
