Artist statement
My work seeks to offer new perspectives on objects. Looking at how meaning and value are assigned to objects and the resulting paradox between use and economic value. I negotiate the philosophical differences between object and thing and explore how a medium can problematize our relationship with things. I am interested in establishing doubt over function and perception, creating inevitable misreadings, finding a multiplicity for objects to exist in. Through orchestrating interactions with objects, I promote an alternative way of looking at commonplace or ‘aura-less’ things. My work focuses on object hood and how that is sought to be defined through the means of its representation.
