About the work
The series Props by Julian Irlinger shows the interior of the Frick Collection in New York. We know lenticular photographs from postcards where the image changes depending on the angle from which you look at it.
The lenticular photographs from the series are taken both from the museum's website and from Google Cultural Institute, which provides a virtual representation of collections worldwide. Although both views vary only slightly, this shows the different interests of both providers: While the museum attaches great importance to the exhibits being displayed, Google's main concern was to offer as many virtual tours as possible in as many institutions as possible in the shortest possible time in order to be the market leader in this area.
