  • About the artist

    'Jie Fu has graduated from The Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (CSM) with a Masters of Fine Arts, showing her artwork “Yearning and New Life” at The CSM Degree Show in Summer 2018. During this year she was also invited to join the Tate Exchange Public Art Exhibition In January.


    Jie Fu is from Zhejiang, China and is now based in London, UK. Jie has developed and mastered Chinese painting, calligraphy and art history, graduating from the School of Fine Arts in Hangzhou, China. Her path through art has been influenced by the history of China as well as her studies abroad in England and she has created a new western eastern blend.


    In China Jie received the Third Prize in the Undergraduate Industrial Design Contest at Zhejiang University in 2015 and the Third Prize in the Young Talents of Arts Competition Hangzhou in 2014 alongside invitations to exhibitions across the two cities.'

  • About the work

    'Her recent artwork reflects “Death and Memory” based upon her life experiences and the voice of her inner world. Jie creates artworks that always have a variety of features and focal points. She has sought out to counter the traditionalism of art in China through application of western culture, fine arts and contemporary arts. Her artworks displays a variety of materials including canvases, rice paper, fabrics, acrylics, inks and a fibre optical installation.'
